Filmed in 1967 as a high school project for Religion class, The Human Situation stars Grope, a Glen Ellyn, Illinois garage band. Unfortunately, the surviving film has suffered heavy water damage through the years...but it actually gives the footage an almost quasi-psychedelic effect.
Billed as an MBC Production (Milano, Birtwell and Carlson) in Three Parts, the silent film includes scenes of the band hanging out and goofing around and playing, followed by a scene from The Amazing Colossal Man, then more footage of the band, including a cool scene filmed live on stage. The soundtrack features odds and ends, and includes the band's rendition of 'Fire,' which is amazingly synched to footage of Grope performing it in a basement.
Throughout the course of their two year existence, Grope included Dean Milano (who graciously provided the film), Pat Cannon, Dave Turnquist, Bob Baum, Rusty Ward/Ken Slauf and Steve Zoellin.
