I come from a musical family. From the time I was small I remember watching my father play guitar and sing. I would watch his fingers and try to memorize his every move. As I grew older I remember going to watch The Rhythm Rockers when they played at the Hancock Teen Center. I studied the way they played their chords.

Ron Neber Recalls The Ramrods
Sometime in 1961 we formed my first band, The Ramrods. We stayed together for about two years. Although we went our own way and formed separate bands, years later four of the five of us got together for a reunion, and since then continue to perform together a couple of times a year.
The members of the Ramrods were Ron Neber, lead guitar and vocals; Gary Trudell, rhythm guitar and vocals; Dave Koski, bass guitar; Paul Keranen, saxophone; and Butch Le Blanc, drums.
We played late ‘50s early ‘60s rock & roll. We were influenced by The Ventures. Their music and fantastic guitar playing intrigue me to this day.
Lake Linden (Michigan) and its surrounding towns were fantastic audiences. The teen center and Lindells were the places to be. We performed at the teen centers in Lake Linden, Hancock, Calumet, Lanse, and the Calumet Armory. We played Fourth of July street dances in Copper Harbor and Bruce Crossing.
I don't think the thought of recording ever entered our minds. We were very much into performing our music live.
I treasure the memories of the time I spent with The Ramrods and our lifelong friendships.
