Ted Myers
Most of these--with a couple of exceptions--are either blues or jug band influenced--or both.  Even a Leiber & Stoller song like 'Searchin'' is given a jug band treatment.  This is because most of us were coming out of the folk scene and were quite new to rock 'n' roll.  Of the originals, only 'Mean Motorcycle' and 'No Reason Why' are on our Capitol releases.  'I'll Let You Go' and 'Always I Know' were recorded at the Capitol sessions, but never released.  The latter two were much more influenced by The British Invasion than by the folk scene.

Within a few days either before or after this recording session we left Goddard College--along with the entire student body--on a two-month work-study program, which Goddard wisely instituted because of the severity of the Vermont winters.  The following March, Tony Pfeiffer and Hugh Magbie returned to Goddard to finish their studies.  Walter, Willie and I stayed in Boston, dropped out of college and searched for a new drummer and lead guitarist.  Ultimately we found two much better players in Lee Mason (drums and a friend of mine from high school) and Kyle Garrahan (guitar).  And that was the band that became The Lost of local Boston fame.

Walter Powers
I don't remember doing a formal recording session at all. I do remember going to Bard to play a gig (The Lost were all Goddard students at that time, with Tony Pfeiffer on drums and Hugh Magbie on 2nd guitar; he and Ted traded leads.) I recall that one Bard guy cracked, when he heard we were from Goddard, "What are you, the basketball team?" because 4/5ths of us were over six-feet tall, and maybe also because Hugh was an African-American. As I recall, our gig there went over well, but I don't remember sitting down for a recording session, either there or back at Goddard. I don't remember 'Walt's Waltz' either.

Tony Pfeiffer was a good guy, but he had a mind of his own, and could sometimes be contrarious. I think, when we went out on a work-study program between semesters to try and make it as a band in Boston, he was the only one of us who got a day job, waitering I think, and he would share some of the money he made so we at least had spaghetti with catsup to eat. Also, he was a smooth dude with the ladies. At the end of the two or three month work-study, Ted, Willie and I kept on with the band and Tony and Hugh went back to school.
